Bangldesh pm Tarique Rahman india visit 2026, August 23-25 first official Trip

Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is likely to visit India from August 23 to 25, 2026. This will be his first official trip to India since taking office in February 2026.

According to Indian Express report, the visit comes amid efforts by both South Asian neighbours to repair ties that were strained by the 2024 ouster of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Rahman's six-month-old government has sought good relations with India since coming to power and the countries have been talking for weeks over his possible visit to New Delhi.

Why is this visit important?

1. First India visit after becoming PM

2. Talks on trade and connectivity

3. Efforts to improve India-Bangladesh relations after 2024 political changes

The Bangladeshi and Indian foreign ministries are expected to confirm the schedule soon
